Ohio’s only Democratic Supreme Court justice has amassed $2.6 million for her re-election bid, dwarfing the fundraising of both Republicans defending seats.

Filings Thursday showed Yvette McGee Brown also accepted $1.9 million worth of equipment and office space usage and other in-kind contributions. Her Republican opponent, Sharon Kennedy, raised $3,600 for the period.

Republican incumbent Robert Cupp raised $60,000 and had about $36,000 on hand in his race against challenger Bill O’Neill, a former appellate judge who isn’t accepting campaign contributions.

A Republican Party ad suggesting O’Neill “sympathized with rapists” as a judge is drawing protests from Democrats. Cupp and Supreme Court contender Mike Skindell, a state senator, have called for the ad to be pulled.

Skindell reported raising $11,400, a fifth of the $56,000 raised by incumbent Justice Terrence O’Donnell.
