A 4-mill, continuing additional levy for police protection to raise $279,804 annually.
Owners of a $100,000 home will pay $140 per year if the levy passes.
Warren Township Police Department has five full-time officers and nine part-time officers.
A patrolman’s base annual salary is $45,344.
The township’s budget for 2011 was $4,333,438.
The police department’s budget for 2011 was $673,691 with none of that coming from the township general fund.
The department’s full-time police officers (four at the time) took a three-year wage freeze early this year. They received 2 percent pay raises in 2010 and 2011, increasing a patrolman’s pay from $20.95 per hour in 2009 to $21.37 per hour in 2010 and $21.80 in 2011.
The pay increases cost the township about $3,494 in 2010 and $3,578 in 2011, or about $884 per police officer per year.
