Car care center offers tips for women

AAMCO Transmission and Total Car Care owner, Bill Jones, offered women a free maintenance check up for their vehicles during Girl’s Night Out to increase cancer awareness Oct. 9.

Women enjoyed a night out Oct. 9 with friends and neighbors while making sure their cars were in tip-top shape during AAMCO Transmission and Total Car Care’s Girls Night Out at the facility at 7880 Market Street. The event provided a car check-up for women while raising money for the American Cancer Society in Boardman.
“We’re doing a car clinic for gals. We’re showing them how to check their tires and fluids. There are also vendors here and 100 percent of the proceeds are going to be donated to the American Cancer Society in Boardman. I think it’s important for all businesses to give back to the community in any way that they can,” said AAMCO owner, Bill Jones.
“Last year, my mom got pancreatic cancer and recently I heard of a woman whose 19-year-old daughter had ovarian cancer. We gotta figure out how to get rid of this disease. I think the biggest way to stop it is through prevention, but to also find a cure. We need to help as much as we can to help stamp this problem out. There’s a lot more that needs to be done.”
Several local vendors also participated and were excited to provide women with their services while supporting the cause. Some vendors, whose lives had been directly affected by cancer, were particularly happy to donate their time and services to make a difference.
“This is a good program that helps people. There’s been people in my family who have passed away because of cancer. I want to do all I can to just help out with the cause,” said Jodi DeSimone, of Poland.
