The Boardman High School band wowed an audience full of hundreds of Boardman elementary school students during its performance at Boardman Center Middle School Sept. 19.
“I think it’s just great for the community and it really shows school spirit and everyone coming together. The band is awesome and this is my fourth year coming to the field trip and every year they’re amazing,” said Kelly Murphy.
The event included music from the high school’s band night and featured several crowd favorites like Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and even a superhero medley.
According to band director Tom Ruggieri, the event not only provides entertainment for elementary students, but also allows those students considering joining the band a visual of what the band is about. Throughout the event, students were given encouragement on how they could begin as early as fifth grade.
Boardman dance line members even gave aspiring dancers, who were part of the Semi-Sweethearts, a chance to join them on the field.
