Chris Young coming to Covelli Centre

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 12 for country music star Chris Young, who will come to Covelli Centre for a Nov. 18 concert, with opening acts Eric Paslay and Joanna Smith.

Welsh Hymn Festival returns

Niles

The 86th annual Niles Gymanfa Ganu, or Welsh Hymn Festival, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the McKinley Memorial Auditorium, 40 S. Main St.

The festival celebrates the heritage of Wales with the performance of traditional hymns in Welsh and English.

Wales native Geraint Wilkes will be musical director.

The Shenango Valley Chorale, under the direction of Ed Groves, also will perform.

After the performances, a traditional Te Bach, or small tea, will be in the auditorium.

Orchestra will open its 84th season

GREENVILLE, Pa.

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra will host 12 blind students when it opens its 84th season at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Passavant Center on the campus of Thiel College, 75 College Ave.

Students from the Keystone Blind Association from Mercer, Beaver and Butler counties and The Sight Center of Northwestern Pennsylvania in Erie will meet with musicians in the afternoon.

“Hear the Music – the Thrill of the Orchestra” will engage the students with musicians, allowing the students to hold and play the instruments. Students will then be guests of the orchestra for that evening’s concert.
