Stambaugh Youth Concert Band plans performance

The Henry H. Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will present its 12th annual winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Admission is $5 ($2 for senior citizens and students).

The program for the concert will include Thomas Doss’ “Montana Fanfare”; Frank Ticheli’s “Cajun Folk Songs II”; Norman Dello Joio’s “Scenes from the Louve”; Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria”; Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride”; and the highlight, Mark Camphouse’s “Movement for Rosa,” which will feature a visual presentation.

A special feature of the concert will be the performance of the Youth Band Percussion Ensemble. The student musicians will perform “Here Drums Santa Claus,” by Philip Gregory.

Conductors for the Concert will be Brandt Payne, associate director of bands at Youngstown State University; John Veneskey, director of bands at South Range Local Schools; and Tyler Husosky, band director in the Jackson-Milton Schools, who will direct the percussion ensemble.

The Stambaugh Youth Concert Band is comprised of students from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania who are already in a high school band, and who pass an audition.
