Plea deal made in fatal accident

YOUNGSTOWN

A 22-year-old city woman will be back in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in January to learn her punishment for her role in the car accident that killed a 32-year-old man.

Michele Green of Mathews Road had been indicted for aggravated vehicular homicide and was slated for trial next week, but instead entered into a plea deal with prosecutors.

Green was charged in connection with the July accident that killed Matthew Clinkscale.

Green, accompanied by her attorney John B. Juhasz, appeared before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum Wednesday for a pretrial hearing. Instead, Green entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors wherein she pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony of the fourth degree.

Green could be sentenced to up to 18 months on the amended charge and fined up to $5,000. Prosecutors, under the terms of the agreement, will recommend probation and a one-year driver’s license suspension.

Green was driving eastbound on Middletown Road in Springfield Township July 2 when she ran a stop sign, striking a car driven by 31-year-old Theresa Clinkscale, according to the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The patrol reported Clinkscale’s front passenger, Matthew Clinkscale, was ejected from the car as it went off the road and struck a large boulder.

Matthew Clinkscale died a short time after the accident.
