Remembering a better time

Although in every age there are troubled times about, I can’t help but reflect on the simpler times and joy of growing up in the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s. They were definitely safer times, when people could leave their homes unlocked, walk just about anywhere without fear. I can’t remember anytime when schools or local government were strapped for money.

For the most part, people were honest in their dealing with each other, and respect for one another was king. What happened to us and our great society? I believe greed in whatever form, has been the great destruction of our current society. We are all guilty of it, in one way or another.

I think we’ve forgotten how to pray and have ignored the teachings of Christ. It’s never too late for any of us to turn away from our destructive ways, but sooner is always better. Jesus taught that being ready for His return requires living according to our Master’s will.

“Keep me praying, keep me trusting every step along life’s way! Keep me waiting, keep me watching for He may return today!” (Luke 12:47)
