Martial artists bring home medals

A team of 16 students from the Martial Arts Training Center in Poland participated in the Taekwondo Union regional championships recently. There were close to 300 competitors at the tournament, which included forms of competition, board breaking, sparring and weapons.

The group brought home 38 medals. They included four Li’l Dragons, who range in age from 4-to-7 years old. Alex Baricella took gold medals in breaking and forms. Jacob Lample took gold in forms and bronze in breaking. Joey Sfara won bronze in forms and breaking, and Alex Sfarre took silver in breaking and bronze in form.

Among the older competitors, Nathan Scheck won gold in breaking, silver in forms and bronze in sparring. Robyn Bartholomew won gold in forms and bronze in breaking, and Brian Bartholomew won silver in form and bronze in breaking.

Dani Deem won golds in breaking and forms, and a bronze in sparring. Corrine Deem won silver in forms and bronze in sparring, and Ethan Deem earned bronze in breaking and forms.

Brittany Caibi won silvers in breaking and sparring and a bronze for forms. Rob Caibi won silver for sparring and bronzes for breaking and forms. Anthony Sexton won a silver in forms and bronzes in breaking and sparring.

Kaitlyn Moddy won golds in breaking and forms and Sam James earned gold in breaking and silver in forms.

In the blackbelt division, Kathy Kraft won gold for breaking, and Adam Cifra won golds in sparring and breaking, and silver in forms.
