Healing liturgy

A healing liturgy is planned Sunday at the National Shrine of Our Lady Of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, with the Rev. Amedeo G. Guida of St. Cecelia Parish in Solvay, N.Y.

He has been involved with healing ministry for more than 20 years.

Confessions will be at noon, liturgy at 1 p.m., adoration and spiritual talk at 2, Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 and anointing of the sick at 3:15.

Memorial Day Mass

St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Villa Maria Road, will have the annual Memorial Day Mass at 9 a.m. Monday in the cemetery hall.

Sing-along set

A “Saturday Night Sing-along” is planned today at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts Wick Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. for fellowship and snacks.

Kim Ruscitti will present a mini concert at 6:30 followed by the sing-along.

Kay and Ernie Cunningham organize and lead the sing-alongs.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will celebrate Pentecost on Sunday with communion. Worship will be at 10 a.m. followed by fellowship.

During the summer months, Memorial Day Sunday through Labor Day Sunday, there is no church school.

Dr. Joe Holland will be the featured speaker when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets June 7 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

He is a professor of philosophy and religion at St. Thomas University, Miami, and president of Pax Romana/Catholic Movement for Intellectual & Cultural Affairs in Washington D.C.

His topic will be “Widening Gap Between Rich and Poor.”

Drive-in services

andover

Beginning this weekend, First United Methodist Church of Andover will sponsor drive-in services for campers and others. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sundays through Sept. 2 at Wildwood Acres Campgrounds, intersection of state Route 7 and Marvin Road, about two miles south of Andover Village Square.

Special music will be provided by Sound Witness on June 17, Dan Schall on July 1 and Jerry Garcia on Aug. 19. Dave Scavuzzo, Western Reserve District superintendent, will speak Aug. 26.

Prayer assembly

Marriage program

The Catholic Interracial Council of the Diocese of Youngstown, with the support of the Black and Indian Missions Office of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and in collaboration with the diocesan offices of Propagation of the Faith and Missions, Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life, and the Department of Canonical Services, will present “An Evening for Marriage” today at Knights of Columbus Hall, 601 Cleveland Ave., Canton. The free event will begin with a social time at 6 p.m., followed by a presentation at 7 by Damon Owens. Owens is founder of Joy-Filled Marriage NJ, a nonprofit organization providing training, resources and support for engaged and married couples.

Live tapings planned

Suffragan Bishop C. Shawn Tyson and Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Ave., will host two live tapings of “Good News” with Bishop Greg Davis and the IMPACT Network at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

IMPACT Network is the first African American founded Christian television network to be broadcast on Dish TV.

On Thursday, a panel will discuss “The 21st Century Church” with Bishop Greg Davis as moderator. Panelists will be the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Ed Noga of St. Patrick Church, Pastor Kenneth Paramore of Christ Centered Church, Bishop Tyson and Jay Williams, former Youngstown mayor and now executive director of the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers.

A revival will be Friday. Speakers include Bishop C. Wayne Brantley of Zion Pentecostal Church in Cleveland; Terrell Turner of Word in Motion Ministries in Atlanta; and Pastor S. Benjamin Brown Sr. of Kingdom Life Church of God in Christ, Melbourne, Ill.

Also participating will be the music ministry of Mark T. Jackson & Final Call, Zacardi Cortez, Natalie Caldwell and the Mount Calvary choir.

The programs are open to all.

Tibetan Buddhism

Spiritual Path Church, 2041 Moravia St., will host the Gajang Tsawa Monks of the Gaden Jangtse Monastery in south India next weekend.

On Friday, the monks will create a sand mandala in the church from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and have a discussion and prayer service with music at 7.

On June 2, guests may view the mandala from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and monks will present a program on karma at 2.

On June 3, the monks will conduct a Vajravidaran ritual of purification from 2 to 4 p.m. then dismantle the mandala.
