Free child car seat checks Saturday

In a study about child restraint systems, about 73 percent of car seats showed at least one critical misuse, according to Safe Kids USA.

To reduce this number and promote child passenger safety, technicians from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and Safe Kids Mahoning Valley will provide free car seat check today.

The checks will be done from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sweeney Chevrolet at 8010 Market St.

“Child restraints and seat belts, when installed and used properly, can prevent injuries and save lives,” said Gia Ramsey, injury prevention specialist, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
