RG Steel may be looking to sell some of its facilities including its city plant, according to published reports.

An energy-news publication, quoting Jerry Nelson, the company’s chief commercial officer, said that people have expressed interest in acquiring some of RG’s facilities.

“I think it’s safe to say everything is on the table,” Nelson said on the Platts website. “That may mean some of the facilities, six months from now, are not part of RG Steel.”

Earlier this month, the company announced it would be cutting the pay of management and office employees at the Warren plant.

The cuts affected 140 salaried employees at the Warren facility. They mostly are employees within operations management or office workers in departments such as sales or purchasing.

The reduction does not impact any of the employees at RG Steel who are represented in the contract with the United Steelworkers union.

“We’re continuing to do internal cost reductions, looking at possible strategic alternatives outside of the company,” company spokeswoman Bette Kovach said Monday.
