Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Police and Fire Games return to Canton from June 10 through June 15.

All first responders, including out-of-state and international competitors, are invited to participate in the games. Laid-off first responders also are encouraged to participate. Friends and families are invited to attend the games.

Mahoning Valley law enforcement officers and firefighters are expected to participate.

This year’s events will include shooting competitions for pistol and long guns, softball, soccer, basketball, cycling, running, golf, fishing, track and field, weight lifting and more.

The games are designed to support the physical and mental fitness of Ohio’s active and retired law enforcement, firefighter, and military personnel by offering events in which first responders can compete in an environment of good sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Proceeds generated from the weeklong event go to several charities, including Canton’s choice, “Cop Claus,” St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House, OSU of Northern Ohio, and others.

For information about the games, contact Joseph A. Mahan, president of the Ohio Police and Fire Games, at 937-335-4336, or email mahan@TheOhioPoliceandFireGames.org. Kevin Sedares can be reached by email at OverallCoord@TheOhioPoliceandFireGames.org
