Mayorgas mark 65th anniversary at dinner party hosted by children

LOWELLVILLE

Family members and friends attended a dinner at Michael Alberini’s Restaurant in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Mayorga of Lowellville, who were celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.

Hosts were the couple’s children and their spouses: Fred and Cindy Mayorga of Canfield; Linda and Terry Davids of Tempe, Ariz.; and Edward and Kathleen Mayorga of Wilmington, N.C.

The couple also have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with another one due in June.

The Mayorgas were married April 19, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown.

Mr. Mayorga and the former Aspasia Chengelis are members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and its senior citizens group.

Mrs. Mayorga, also known as Bessie, is a homemaker who also was employed at Sweetland and Gorants.

Mr. Mayorga retired in 1980 as a stationary engineer at U.S. Steel Co. He also owned Smiley’s Tavern in Youngstown and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
