Scripture reveals God’s promises

We see many references in Scripture that speak to us concerning God’s promises of provision.

He is our Lord, and his care for us is certain.

His nature is one of tending his flock, leading and guiding each of us with the care of a father.

His will is that we possess all the precious promises given to us in Scripture.

This is a truth found in God’s word, regardless of life’s many struggles and trials.

We must be diligent in reminding ourselves of this simple truth.

He is there with us every step of the way.

Any and all circumstances we may find ourselves overwhelmed by will never negate the promises and provisions of the Lord for our lives.

God has a plan, and his plans never fail.

In Exodus 3:8, paraphrased, Scripture reads, “So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”

In this portion of Scripture, God speaks to Moses concerning his children and his plan for their future.

It is Moses’ call and destiny to deliver the people from this land of bondage into the land of promise, which is their God-ordained inheritance.

This would prove to be a difficult but not impossible task.

No matter how it looked, God would lead his people out and ultimately in, to the land he promised.

In reading these portions of Scripture, we see the purpose, the people, the path and finally the possession of the promise of the Lord.

Their course would be one of doubt, fear and disbelief.

However, eventually and inevitably it would grow into a walk of trust, hope and fulfillment of the promise of God to this nation.

It also serves as a promise to us as Christians, that the Lord will never forget us and will always make a way for us.

He is there to supply provision, hope and help in our journey of life.

God’s purpose for his people was one of destiny.

They and we are a people of destiny.

His choice is simple and clear: I have “chosen” you and I will help you.

The bondages seen in the lives of the Israelites would not hinder the move of God on their behalf.

His purpose was clear.

He promised them a deliverer, and that promise was fulfilled in Moses.

God’s purpose is clear to us today.

He promised us a deliverer, a Savior, and that promise was fulfilled in Christ.

John 3:17 reads, “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.”

Just as Moses was the intended instrument of purpose to deliver Israelites from bondage to their destiny, so is Jesus Christ ours to bring us out of sin into a life of righteousness through him and our acceptance of his sacrifice on the cross.

Many of us have lost our purpose in life and are traveling a long winding road alone.

The Lord is there and will provide us the strength for the journey and the direction for our lives.

His requirements are simple. Just ask him for help. He is there, and we are a people of destiny.

In Psalm 100:3, we are called the “sheep of his pasture.”

The path of Israel was not an easy one.

There would be many battles ahead, both external and internal. They themselves would not enter the promised land, due to disobedience and rebellion.

God in his wonderful mercy still allowed for their future generations to obtain the inheritance.

Each of us is familiar with a difficulty in our path of life. One way or another, we all experience hard times.

We, too, must be reminded that when we find ourselves in the darkest of times, our God and his word is a lamp unto our feet and a light to our pathway, which Psalm 119:105 states.

And finally, a promise is a promise.

In the book of Hebrews 10:23, Scripture reads, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful.”

The Lord is true to his word, dedicated and committed to his promises directed toward us.

The promises of God are yea and amen in him.

Wherever we may find ourselves, always remember, life can never take us where the grace of God can’t keep us.

Wait for all that is promised in God’s word.

You have a future and a hope.

Never forget it!
