With Mother Nature providing sun and warm weather on March 16, C.H. Campbell Elementary School students only needed two things to make their annual Beach Day complete — the ocean and sand.
The event is a celebration of spring, during which the students are able to dress in brightly-colored beachwear for the day. Many students took advantage of this opportunity by wearing Hawaiian leis, straw hats, sunglasses, shorts, sandals, visors and many of the girls had tropical flowers in their hair.
With the cafeteria decorated with beach balls and sand buckets hanging from the ceiling and cutouts of tropical fish on the walls, the tables were cleared away and the students sat on the floor on beach towels to eat their lunch. As a special Beach Day treat, the PTO provided ICEE popsicles for the children for dessert.
The celebration of spring continued outside during recess where they were able to take advantage of the rare mid-March warm temperatures and soak up the sunshine — just like being at the beach.
