Some residents not warned about Colo. wildfire

CONIFER, Colo. (AP) — Some residents in the path of a Colorado wildfire weren’t warned to flee.

Jefferson County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said today the problem was probably caused by a software glitch in the county’s emergency notification system.

Officials say about 12 percent of residents weren’t notified.

Two people died and another is missing in the wildfire, which erupted Monday in the mountains southwest of Denver.

Authorities say evacuees from some areas can return home, but it wasn’t immediately clear how many people were being allowed back.
