Copper stolen

BOARDMAN

A local pizza shop has asked police for help after a property manager said about two 10-foot copper pipes were stolen from an air-conditioning unit. Police said a property manager of Cocca’s Pizza, 7144 Market St., said the pipe was taken between Friday and Tuesday afternoon when it was discovered to be missing. The estimated damage and theft is valued at $700, reports state.

Roads set to reopen

Youngstown

Several roads throughout Mill Creek Park are scheduled to reopen after being closed for the winter. Chestnut Hill Drive, between Canfield Road and the Kirkmere Spur, High Drive between the Kirkmere Spur and West Cohasset Drive, and Calvary Run Drive between Belle Vista and Milton avenues reopen Monday.

Choir performance

WARREN

Teen Straight Talk sponsors the University of Mount Union Choir for an evening of inspirational music from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Grace AME Church, 1137 Main Ave.

The event is free, but a love offering to support Teen Straight Talk will be taken during the evening. Mary Duke, a former teacher at Warren G. Harding High School, founded TST in 1989.

It is a volunteer, nonprofit, Christian organization created to teach character education to young people with a particular message for teens to abstain from sexual activity until they are married. For information on TST and its programs, call 330-539-6040.

Open house

LAKE Milton

Milton Township Volunteer Fire Department will have an open house to provide free blood-pressure screenings and a kids’ safety trailer. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the fire department, 15980 Milton Ave. Firefighters will provide tours of the station and vehicles.

Assault reported

BOARDMAN

Police are investigating an allegation of assault at Boardman High School. A parent reported his 17-year-old daughter was assaulted by a female student while in a class about noon Tuesday.

The accuser said her classmate had been harassing her for several weeks, and on Tuesday the girl slapped and knocked her off the chair, police said.

The accuser told police her teacher was not in the classroom at the time of the incident, but classmates witnessed what happened, according to reports.

Opening prayer

CANFIELD

Brent Allen, pastor of Old North Church in Canfield, gave the opening prayer Wednesday to the Ohio Statehouse. He was welcomed by state Rep. Craig Newbold of Columbiana, R-1st. The Rev. Mr. Allen and his wife, Lori, live in Boardman.

Public meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Charter Review Committee has invited officials with businesses based in the city to a public-input meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave.
