Senior ’star games set at 3 sites this week

The Columbiana County All-Star Classic will tipoff a week of basketball showcases for area high school senior standouts.

Tonight’s Columbiana County games will feature the girls game at 6 p.m., followed by the boys contest at Lisbon High School.

On Wednesday, the Al Beach Classic, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Coaches Association, will be held at Boardman High School.

The girls game will begin the evening at 6, followed by the boys game. There will be a 3-point shooting contest at halftime of each game, and the boys slam dunk contest between games.

Finally, on Friday night, the Frank Bubba Classic will be held at Warren G. Harding High School.

Again, the girls game will tip-off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys contest. There will also be 3-point and slam dunk contests.

The girls 3-point finalists at the Bubba event are Abbie Frank of Poland, Marisa Toensing of Newton Falls, Megan Sefcik of Fitch, Gabby Lamont of Champion, Taylor Stanley of McDonald and Halle Smrek of Struthers.

Boys contestants are Stephen Politano of McDonald, Kenny Bolyard of Badger, Ron Rogers of Struthers and Ryan Strollo of Ursuline.

The girls coaches at the Bubba Classic are Tony Matisi of Lowellville and Adam Lewis of Lakeview. Jason Lee of Mathews and Eric Fender of Springfield are the boys coaches.
