Police ID girl killed in Philly store crash

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say the young girl killed when a sport utility vehicle crashed into the front of a Philadelphia storefront was from New Jersey.

A Florida man was charged Monday with causing the crash a day earlier in the city’s Italian Market neighborhood.

Investigators say 11-year-old Samantha Nguyen-Ortanez, of Sicklerville, N.J., was killed when 28-year-old Maximiliano Alejandro Drosi ran a red light, causing a crash that sent a SUV into the front of a fish shop.

Police say Drosi, of Miami, was driving under the influence behind the wheel of a rental car when he caused the crash. He remains in custody on charges including vehicular homicide while DUI and reckless endangerment.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Drosi.
