Man flees after trying to rob Italian store in Cornersburg

Police are looking for a white man about 40 to 45 years old and about 5 foot-7 inches tall who attempted to rob the Italian Specialties store at 3381 Canfield Road in Cornersburg on Sunday afternoon.

The man left the store in a silver, gray or tan late 1990s Buick at 1:40 p.m., police said.

The man placed two items on the counter, put his hand in his pocket and told the cashier to open the register or he would shoot her.

The clerk backed up and placed a metal bin in front of her, yelling to other employees “Get back. He has a gun.”

The suspect left the store without any money or the items on the counter.

A woman told police she saw the man get into his car, which had no license plates on the front or rear. The suspect had trouble starting his car, another witness said.
