POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

March 17

Theft: Someone removed $10 from a vehicle in the 400 block of Illinois Avenue.

Arrest: Police responded to a domestic situation in the 600 block of Washington Avenue, where they charged 19-year-old Abigail Richcreek of Coshocton with disorderly conduct. An irate Richcreek continually used profanities, spit in a man’s face and refused to desist, a report said.

Fraud: A Shannon Road woman discovered three unauthorized withdrawals to her account that totaled $500.

Thefts: Police received several complaints of vehicles having been rummaged through in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue. Missing property included a global-positioning-system device, medication and small amounts of money.

Theft: Someone entered a truck in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue and stole Vicodin.

Recovered property: Several empty jewelry boxes were found on property in the 1000 block of North Ward Avenue.

Theft: Someone in the 500 block of Forsythe Avenue rummaged through a car and took $10.

March 18

Criminal damaging: A BB or a small-caliber bullet was fired through a front window to a home in the 800 block of Mosier Road. No one was injured, however.

Menacing: A North Highland Avenue man reported his former wife arrived inebriated and yelled profanities at and made a threat toward him.

Menacing: An East Howard Street woman said a man made online threats against her after an earlier confrontation between the two.

Arrest: Officers responded to a suspicious person walking on U.S. Route 422 carrying a snow board, then charged Jack W. Watson, 21, of 49 Hancock St., Girard, with obstructing official business. Watson lied to police about who had given him the board, a report showed.

Assault: A man leaving a Market Street business told police two men punched him several times, and that one of the men struck the right side of the accuser’s head with a beer bottle.

Attempted burglary: Someone removed a chair from the front porch of a residence in the 30 block of East Broadway Avenue and used it in an effort to gain access via a kitchen window.

Trespassing: A North Highland Avenue couple said someone rummaged through their vehicles.

March 19

Theft: A Stambaugh Street man reported the theft of a $500 go-cart.

Identity fraud: An East Howard Street man checking his account discovered an unauthorized $356 charge to his debit card.

Menacing: A girl told officers a male yelled at her, grabbed her arms and threatened to harm the accuser at a park near Route 422.

March 20

Stolen property: Police charged Brandon M. Carpenter, 20, of 235 E. Howard St., Girard, and 21-year-old Jeremy D. Taylor of Kenilworth Street, Warren, with receiving stolen property and criminal trespassing after a steel cable was stolen from property in the 1700 block of North State Street.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Hillcrest Avenue, from which an Xbox system and five Xbox games were stolen.

Theft: A $200 rod-iron table was taken from a front porch in the 600 block of East Prospect Street.

Criminal damaging: Someone tore a shutter, broke a rear double-pane window, kicked in a door and poured motor oil on a door to a residence in the 400 block of Idaho Avenue. Damage came to $1,500.

Breaking and entering: A $600 laptop computer was stolen during a break-in at a building in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue.

Aggravated menacing: Authorities responded to a fight in the 500 block of Park Avenue, where one of the combatants reportedly pointed a backpack at the others, implying that he had a gun in the bag. Police, however, found no firearm, a report said.

March 21

Arrest: Police stopped a go-cart on Route 422, where they cited 21-year-old Jack W. Watson, 49 Hancock St., Girard, on charges of having no operator’s license and prohibition to operate an all-terrain vehicle on a public road.

HUBBARD

March 17

Auto theft: A vehicle was stolen in the 6000 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road.

Arrest: Police arrested 40-year-old Marvin McCauley of Hubbard Township on two counts of child endangering.

March 18

Jessica E. Anthony, 20, of Girard, was taken into custody. She faced charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

March 19

Theft: A gas cap was stolen at Truck World Truck Stop, 6965 Truck World Blvd. SE.

March 20

Criminal damaging: Property was damaged in the 2000 block of Masury Road.

LIBERTY

March 17

Domestic violence: Police charged 31-year-old Dominic C. Mshar, 1600 Motor Inn Drive, Liberty, with one felony count after a woman alleged Mshar punched her left eye, causing an injury, during an argument.

Arrest: Liberty police booked 41-year-old Marcy J. Fisher, 38 Bright St., Campbell, on a warrant from Girard Municipal Court charging her with a probation violation.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Frederick Street woman said her intoxicated boyfriend took her 2002 GMC vehicle without permission.

Drugs: Police responded to a shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, where they charged Jessica C. Kiehl, 26, of 44490 state Route 517, Columbiana, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Kiehl, who also was wanted on felony heroin-possession charge, had a syringe and a spoon for drug use, a report showed. Also arrested was 27-year-old Mary E. Kiehl, 226 Park Ave., East Palestine, on a warrant.

Arrest: Youngstown police handed 30-year-old Duaine D. McDowell, 1624 Virginia Ave., to township authorities. He was charged with failing to appear in court.

Arrest: Orlanda Dodson, 45, of 545 Detroit Ave., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a township warrant charging her with theft.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue led to a summons against 26-year-old William G. Woodring, 2625 Hewitt-Gifford Road SW, Warren, after police said a syringe was found.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a Belmont Avenue bank regarding phony travelers checks, then charged 35-year-old Zachary T. Howell, 1133 Springdale Ave., Youngstown, with obstructing justice and complicity. Howell, who also was wanted on a domestic-violence charge from Boardman, misled authorities, and the checks were determined to be counterfeit, a report said.

Assault: While responding to an outdoor fight on North Gate Road, a woman reported about 10 people had assaulted her. She had a swollen hand and bruises.

March 18

Identity theft: A Tibbetts-Wick Road woman reported her husband’s name and their address was used to fraudulently obtain a company account.

Domestic violence: Kevin L. Wright Jr., 31, of 4026 Jefferson Court, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged that during an argument, Wright had grabbed her throat and pushed her into a wall in an effort to choke her.

March 20

Theft/vandalism: Someone removed copper piping from and did damage to air-conditioning units at an office building in the 5100 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 49-year-old Jerry J. Bohrer, 1207 Oak St., Youngstown, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, failure to comply with police and falsification.

Breaking and entering: Two 22-inch self-propelled push mowers and a leaf blower were stolen from a garage that was entered in the 2800 block of Logan Way.

Drugs: Officers responding to a reckless driver on Belmont Avenue arrested 31-year-old Daniel M. Nickle Jr., 34 Walter St., Campbell, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments, resisting arrest, having no operator’s license and having fictitious license plates. Nickle, who police said refused several times to obey, had three syringes as well as several items consistent with drug use, a report showed.

Robbery: A Green Acres Drive man told police three men robbed him, including one who pointed at him an object in a sock that appeared to be a firearm. The robbers stole the man’s car keys and cellphone.

Theft: A man reported the theft of his wallet at a Belmont Avenue gas station.

March 21

Arrest: Township authorities held 59-year-old Edward W. Hawkins, 1373 Forestview Drive, Youngstown, who was accused by Girard Municipal Court of failing to appear to face a disorderly-conduct charge.

Theft: Police at Walmart took into custody Derrick G. McIntosh, 43, of 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant from the township charging him.

Arrest: Raymond L. Johnson, 20, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Johnson, of 418 Sherwood Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a theft warrant from the township.
