A woman is in stable condition after being hit by a car, and police have charged the driver with felonious assault.
The assault happened about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday on Oregon Avenue.
Witnesses told police that Tamesha Wilson, 20, of Oregon Avenue deliberately hit Tanicqwa Wilkerson, 20, also of Oregon, after the two argued in the street.
Wilkerson was standing by her parked car when Wilson drove by. After words were exchanged, she turned around, accelerated and hit Wilkerson, witnesses said.
The impact flipped Wilkerson onto the car hood, and Wilson sped off with her still there, a police report says. She fell off the hood a short distance away.
Police found Wilkerson lying in the street in the 3000 block, bleeding heavily, the report says. She was conscious and crying.
An ambulance took her to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Other officers spotted Wilson on the Himrod Avenue Expressway and stopped her after a brief chase.
She was arrested and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
