OSHP investigating fatal accident in Green Township

GREEN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one man dead.

The patrol said the crash occurred about 5 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 62 at Calla Road in Green Township. Scott E. Beaver, 33, of Salem, was traveling eastbound on Calla Road, and Ruth B. Rice, 61, of Salem, was traveling south on U.S. 62, troopers said.

The patrol reports that Beaver failed to yield for a stop sign and was hit by Rice on the left side of the vehicle. Rice was taken to Salem Community Hospital for treatment, and Beaver was pronounced dead at the scene.
