LOUIE TODAY: Cleveland organized crime historian on infamous Jungle Inn

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Louie will be interviewing Allan R. May, an organized crime historian from Cleveland, on his new book about one of the Mahoning Valey's' most infamous landmarks, the Jungle Inn.

"Welcome to the Jungle Inn, The Story of the Mafia's Most Infamous Gambling Den," details a history of organized crime in Warren and Trumbull County, with stories about local ganglord Jimmy Munsene, the notorious Farah brothers, Detroit mobster-transplant Frank Cammarata, one-time Cleveland Mafia underboss Anthony "Tony Dope" Delsanter, and others.

May began his writing career with a brief stint working for the dean of organized crime writers, Jerry Capeci, at his popular "Gangland News" website. He moved on to write for Rick Porello's AmericanMafia.com, Court TV's "CrimeLibrary" and CrimeMagazine.com.

This is May's third book. He has a personal library of nearly 900 books on the subject of organized crime.
