Family escapes fire

CAMPBELL

The Red Cross is assisting a Campbell family after their Bright Avenue home caught fire Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were called to 37 Bright Ave. around 7:30 p.m. and found the blaze confined to an upstairs bedroom crawl space. A woman and her three children were able to escape unharmed, firefighters said.

All of Campbell’s firefighters were called out, even those who were off-duty, and Coitsville Township firefighters also responded as part of an automatic mutual-aid agreement. The fire was under control about 20 minutes after crews arrived, firefighters said. The house sustained about $15,000 in loss, according to reports.

Disabilities Awareness

NILES

The Fairhaven Foundation recently had a legislative breakfast to observe National Developmental Disabilities Awareness month. The theme this year is “Our Community is Better Together” and has been celebrated across the nation.

Besides the breakfast, which featured a presentation about the Foundation and its mission, there was an overview of programs and services offered by the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Also given was a presentation by Robert Elek and Lyle Barshney describing their journey to find a job in the community with the help of Fairhaven’s Direct Link Program.
