Weathersfield Township’s website has had a makeover and now includes an increased base of information.

The most recent and informative revamp is for the police department, which has upgraded its site in the past two weeks with complete lists of incident reports at individual neighborhood levels.

The site includes a section with photo and newspaper files on the department’s history.

“A lot of work went into it,” trustee chairman Steve Gerberry said, noting that an effort was made to improve the entire township site to be more informative for residents.

Office personnel did the general upgrades, including adding fire-department call lists and adding a complete copy of current zoning laws in a downloadable format.

Access to the site can be gained by going to www.weathersfieldtwp.com.

The police section will greet searchers with the sound of police sirens and a 911 call in the background followed by music from “Hill Street Blues,” the television show on law enforcement that ran from 1981 to 1987.

Another section opens up with the theme song for another old television police-story show, “Adam-12,” which aired from 1968 to 1975.

Police Chief Joseph Consiglio said the upgrade on the website was done by Sgt. Todd Garlow and Capt. Mike Naples.

The site has been re-designed to provide “considerably more information” for residents, Consiglio said.

A neighborhood section includes six areas of the township and posts recent crimes or similar activity that police feel residents should be aware of.

Details on the “Are You Okay?” program for senior citizens also will be added soon to the site. Seniors who want to be checked on can sign up for the free service.

“We are trying to provide as much information as we can,” Consiglio said.

Trustees at their meeting Tuesday declared a nuisance a residence at 1594 Laurel St., Niles, an abandoned home the trustees are ordering the landowner to either repair or remove.

The resignation of Craig Callow from the Board of Zoning Appeals was accepted. Trustees are accepting applications for his unexpired term. Any resident can submit a letter of interest to the board. Deadline for applying is March 27.

Residents who notice that drains or ditches in their area are running slowly can contact the township to see if debris has been trapped in them. Both county and township drainage pipe can be reported, Gerberry said.
