Hardworking Boardman High School students were offered a treat on the morning of March 5, courtesy of the high school’s Parent Teacher Student Association – a breakfast of pancakes, sausage and hash browns for students who earned a 3.5 grade point average in the first semester of the school year.

The Honors Breakfast is made special by having administrators and PTSA officials serve the students in the cafeteria line.

Principal Tim Sexton, associate principal Dave Kornbau, assistant principal Jared Cardillo, and PTSA officers Joyce Reid, Kathy Holman, Gail DeMetruk, and Betsy Slater served the students with a smile.

PTSA president Kathy Holman said the event is a worthy celebration for the hard work of Boardman students.

“Our Honors Breakfast congratulates the students who continue to strive for great grades, as well as the students who applied themselves to raise their GPA in the new school year. We recognize a large number of students – about 500 this morning – for a job well done,” Holman said.

As students streamed through the cafeteria line, exclamations of amazement at being served by their principal were abounding, as well as students admitting that hard work pays off.

At the close of the event, seniors holding a 4.0 grade point average gave advice to classmates and underclassmen, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence.
