Police: Fla. couple kept boy in cage inside closet

TITUSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a Florida couple is accused of locking an extremely malnourished boy inside a cage in a closet as punishment.

Authorities in Titusville, about 40 miles east of Orlando on the coast, say the boy also had been strapped to a bed. He was treated at a hospital for malnutrition and dehydration.

Brevard County Jail records show 38-year-old Michael Marshal and 48-year-old Sharon Glass were charged Thursday with three counts of aggravated child abuse. Both are being held without bond pending a first appearance sometime today.

Child welfare officials are investigating. Other children at the home have since been removed.
