Fitch excels at nationals

Fitch senior Jay Jakovina jumped 6 feet, 9 inches to place second at the New Balance indoor nationals last weekend at the New Balance Armory. Jakovina, a YSU recruit, had the same jump as winner, Jonathan Addison, but lost on jumps. Jakovina needed three attempts to clear 6-9 while Addison cleared that height on his first attempt. Jakovina placed 22nd at last year’s national indoor meet. Fitch sophomore Gabby Figueroa was fifth in the weight throw. Both earned All-America honors.
