GM survey asks workers, ‘Want to move closer to home?’

lordstown

General Motors is sending a targeted survey to some of its employees to learn how many workers want to transfer closer to their previous home plant.

Glenn Johnson, president of United Auto Workers 1112 in Lordstown, estimated that between 250 and 300 employees at the area facility would be interested in transferring closer to home.

Any positions that are made open by a transfer would be filled by people who are currently temporary workers at the Lordstown plant, he said.

Employees will have until July 17 to submit the survey application, said Dave Green, president of UAW 1714 in Lordstown.

The company will let the unions know sometime after how many employees will be able to transfer, he said.
