Some 9/11 families accuse NY, NJ govs of betrayal

NEW YORK (AP) — Some 9/11 families upset over the delay in completing the Sept. 11 museum are accusing the governors of New York and New Jersey of betraying the terrorist attack victims.

More than 200 family members signed a letter sent today to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Gov. Chris Christie.

It calls on them to resolve a financial dispute that has delayed construction of the museum at the World Trade Center site.

The letter accuses the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey of trying to milk the public’s financial support of the memorial and museum “to offset its own ... fiscal mismanagement.”

Other relatives instead blame the memorial foundation for the delays. They say taxpayers shouldn’t be responsible for cost overruns.
