A clown was among the entertainment recently at Family Fun Day for the Youngstown Girl Scouts. The event, which took place at the Covelli Centre, also featured face painting, crafts and a bounce-around for the kids.

YOUNGSTOWN

Family Fun Day for the Youngstown Girl Scouts took place on June 2 and was the result of their outstanding efforts.

From noon to 3 p.m. the girls and their families enjoyed festivities, which were open to Girl Scouts, nonmembers and their families at the Covelli Centre.

As part of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, the following troops worked to sell more than 9,000 boxes of cookies this year and used a portion of the earnings to sponsor the Family Fun Day:

• Troop 83054, Hardin Elementary.

• Troop 83051, Martin Luther King Elementary.

• Troop 83083, Paul C. Bunn Elementary.

• Troop 83084, William Holmes McGuffey Elementary.

• Troop 83085, Kirkmere Elementary.

• Troop 80385, Taft Elementary.

• Troop 80388, Williamson Elementary.

The activities included bounce-arounds, a clown, face painting, crafts provided by Michaels, games and a inflatable planetarium.

OH WOW!: The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology provided a hands-on mobile exhibit that intrigued and amazed the children.

Girl Scouts received honors during a Bridging Ceremony, where girls advance from Daisies to Brownies, and Brownies to Juniors.

These Youngstown Girl Scouts are part of an in-school program, which allows the troops the chance to organize and participate in activities. Girls participated in after-school programs and in traditional troops.
