New Canfield baseball club for boys and girls

Canfield Baseball Club will offer fall ball for boys and girls ages 5-6, boys ages 7-8, and boys ages 9-10 on April 30 for boys and Dec. 31 for girls. Program runs Sept. 6–Oct. 4, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 p.m.

The cost is $39 per child and includes a T-shirt. Register online only at www.canfieldbaseball.com by July 31. Players from other clubs are welcome. If you would like to sponsor a team, the cost starts at $100. For more information, email info@canfieldbaseball.com.

JV, varsity cheerleading advisers needed

Canfield is conducting a search for two high school cheerleading squad advisers for the 2012-13 school year. Those selected will oversee the freshman, JV and varsity cheerleaders during the football and basketball seasons. Baseball club to host tournament

Mooney graduate honored by OHSAA

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has has been awarded a Scholar Athlete Scholarship to Rachael Letscher, a recent graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She will be honored at the OHSAA’s awards ceremony and banquet Friday in Columbus.

As a goalie on the soccer team, she set a record of 417 saves and earned All-District honors her senior year. She will continue her soccer career next season at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., where she will major in Environmental Science. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Letscher of Canfield.

Baseball Club to sponsor softball class

Diamondback hosts golfing courses

Diamondback Golf Course will host courses for kids in grades fifth through eighth on June 26 and 27 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. College instructors from Youngstown State University and Ohio State University will be teaching the course. Lunch will be provided.

5K Cardinal Classic in Canfield

The Canfield Cardinal Classic will be held today. A free 400 meter kid’s race will start at 8:10 p.m. A 1.5 mile adult walk/run will begin at 8:25 p.m. with the 5K race starting at 8:45 p.m. Pre- event registration costs $15 and registration at the event costs $18. Boosters established for Mike Mannozzi

The Michael Mannozzi Olympic Dream Fund, spearheaded by the Agnew and Basista families, has been established for the Olympic hopeful.

The public is invited to join the effort. Sponsorship monies will help offset expenses incurred in Mike’s conditioning, training regimen, and travel for various competitions and additional coaching opportunities.
