Planning for Canfield’s 47th annual Independence Day celebration is well under way and this year’s theme will be “Ignite The Spirit of America.”
Festivities will start early on July 4 with registration for both the Kids’ Race and the Firecracker 4-Mile Run at 7:30 a.m. The kids race begins at 8:15 a.m. and the Firecracker Run takes off at 8:30 a.m.
J.D. Eicher and The Goodnights will perform on the Gazebo from 8:45-10 a.m. when the parade will begin. The North Green will host many games and prizes for children following the parade.
“We have a new chairperson in charge of the kids’ games,” reported Parade Co-Chair Enid Maldonado. “Jill Barton graciously accepted the position and brought lots of great ideas for games and prizes and all the favorites will be there, too.”
Concession chair Marlene Belfiore adds that the food court, located between Farmers National and First Place banks, will be stocked with a variety of treats, both before and after the parade.
