Wednesday, June 20, 2012

BOARDMAN — Local law enforcement will serve up dinner for a good cause during its “Tip-A-Cop” event from 4 to 9 p.m. tonight at Chili’s restaurant on the corner of Market Street and U.S. Route 224. Mahoning County Sheriff-elect Jerry Greene will be at the event from 7 to 9 p.m.

All tips will benefit the Special Olympics as part of the statewide 2012 Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run that began June 17 and will end Friday.

The officers carry the “Flame of Hope” through more than 150 communities to create awareness of and raise funds for the Special Olympics. The run will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday and start at Chili’s and go south on Market Street to about McClurg Road.
