YSU appoints Kevin Ball as associate provost

Kevin Ball, coordinator of composition and professor of English, will become Youngstown State University’s associate provost for Academic Programs and Planning on July 1. He replaces Bege Bowers, who retires June 30.

Ball has been a faculty member in the Department of English since 2000. He has served as co-director of the YSU Composition Program and coordinator of English First-Year Composition Course since 2003; director of the YSU Graduate Assistant Teaching Practicum from 2005 to 2009; director of the Ohio Writing Institute at YSU from 2004 to 2010; coordinator of the YSU Teaching of Writing Graduate Certification since 2000; and coordinator of the YSU Tech-Prep-IT English Language Arts Faculty from 2002 to 2003.

Ball’s responsibilities will include developing and strengthening academic programs and centers through accreditation; program planning, review and articulation; assessment; trans-collegiate and interdisciplinary development; and other enhancement and coordination activities. He will oversee Ohio Board of Regents reporting, Higher Learning Commission reporting, strategic planning, annual planning for the Academic Division, special academic initiatives, faculty and chair development, teaching and learning support, and P-12 partnerships and collaborations.
