“FALLING SKIES” (9 p.m., TNT): - We had hoped that the aliens depicted in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller would be as meek and cute as E.T. Alas, not quite. And so the battle to thwart them figures to get even bloodier as Season 2 opens. The saga picks up three months after Tom (Noah Wyle) made the bold move to enter an enemy spaceship in an effort to gain some understanding of the strange creatures that turned Earth into a wasteland.

“The Killing” (9 p.m., AMC): It was a case that caused a great deal of fan outrage and took far too long to solve. But “The Killing” finally has Sarah (Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) apprehending Rosie Larsen’s murderer in the show’s Season 2 finale. Really.
