Forum on fracking scheduled for today

youngstown

The Ohio Environmental Council is hosting an educational forum on fracking today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Youngstown Public Library’s main branch.

Hydraulic fracturing or fracking is a process in which sand, water and chemicals are pumped into shale at a high pressure to release the gas trapped within the rock thousands of feet underground.

The forum will focus on health concerns relating to the process. Janet Reeves, a retired nurse, and Scott Bolam, from the Mahoning County Board of Health are among those who will speak.
