Youngstown police crack down on sale of alcohol to minors

The Youngstown Police Department’s vice squad summoned four employees and arrested one at four establishments Saturday, after observing the sale of alcohol to minors, according to police reports.

Using undercover 19- and 20-year-old males, police observed the employees at Schenley Carryout, 2725 Mahoning Ave.; Somewhere Else Bar, 2426 Mahoning Ave.; Ultimate Food Mart, 911 Belmont Ave.; and Irish Bobs, 3602 South Ave. sell the underage males alcohol, the report said.

All four suspects were charged with underage sale of alcohol and are due in Youngstown Municipal Court, 9 a.m. today.

Police arrested Derrick Sharpe, 34 from 372 Fairgreen Ave., a bartender at Somewhere Else Bar who police said served a customer cocaine and was found with marijuana in his pocket. He was charged with felony drug trafficking and three misdemeanors.

Sharpe also will be in city court 9 a.m. today.
