Official GED Testing scheduled at Choffin

Official GED Testing sponsored by Choffin Career and Technical Adult Education Department, University System of Ohio, will be at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 at Choffin. All participants must be pre-registered and bring a photo ID. To pre-register for the test or to enroll in free classes, call Choffin at 330-744-8715.

Sign-ups planned for Poland kindergarten

Registration for children entering Poland Local Schools kindergarten this fall will be from 9 a.m. to noon March 3 and March 10 at Union Elementary School. Children already enrolled in kindergarten within the district don’t need to register for first grade.

There are no guarantees about which school a student will attend in the fall. Attendance will be determined based on enrollment numbers.

Parents or guardians must provide the child’s original birth certificate and Social Security card, child’s immunization records, proof of residency such as mortgage documents, house-closing papers or rental agreement; parent identification and custody papers if applicable.

Deadline set for Naples scholarships

The deadline for this year’s Richard T. Naples Sr. Education Foundation Inc. Scholarship is March 31. High school students may obtain applications from their guidance counselors.

Naples, founder of the Wholesale Fireworks chain of stores, created the foundation as a perpetual fund in 1998.

Since then, it was awarded 180 $500 college scholarships. The scholarships are available to current high school seniors and college students who live in Trumbull, Mahoning and Stark counties.

YOUNGSTOWN: The Women Retirees of Youngstown State University Scholarship is accepting applications through March 1. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time junior female student who maintains a minimum 3.0 grade- point average. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. More information about the scholarship is available at www.ysu.edu/finaid. Application forms may be printed from the website or obtained from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships on the second floor of Meshel Hall.
