Howland Middle School wins TCESC prep bowl

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center recently completed its annual Elementary Prep Bowl competition.

This academic competition engaged students in various grade levels in a contest to answer questions from all areas of study.

The competition took place at the Trumbull Career & Technical Center and took place over two evenings.

Howland Middle School won the elementary competition.

Members of the team were Elias Kondolios, captain; Moira Armstrong; Jessica Spore; and Michael Sturdevant. Alternates were Kayleigh Holler, Adam Rich and Julia Sammartino.

Sara Buzulencia was the coach.

Howland H.C. Mines Intermediate School was the runner-up for the elementary competition.

Members of the team were Abnishek Shan and Vivian Lewis, captains; Preston Bailey, Isabelle Daniels, Samuel Darrin, Ethan Deemer, Tia Sorrels and Adelaide White. Lisa Sutton and Jenifer Studer coached the team.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center provides educational leadership and instruction in the areas of school improvement, special education and STEM education.

The center employs more than 200 teachers, therapists, psychologists, educational assistants and other specialists who work directly with approximately 3,500 students in 20 school districts.

The center also conducts professional growth seminars for approximately 2,000 teachers each year.
