A different view of fracking

The letter writer from Salem suggested the support of fracking from many different angles. Unfortunately, he sounded more like a cheerleader than a pragmatist.

I suggest he consider the following: 1) Oil wells have been drilled in America since 1849, yet both the Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska and the BP Deepwater fiasco in the Gulf occurred; 2) Like those who denounce global warming, he also ignores the findings of YSU science experts who have connected the twelve (12) earthquakes to the brine injection wells; 3) the passage of laws cannot condone the contamination of the environment, like the drinking water wells in Dimora, Pa.; 4) The 14,400 “Ohio” jobs he celebrates raises the following questions: How many of these jobs are actually being worked by actual “Ohio” citizens?

America’s energy needs also would be better served if all the “capped” wells in America were “uncapped” instead of hoping for higher oil prices.

YPD does an amazing job

The Youngstown Police De- partment is the best. Their response in the wee hours some time ago to my 911 call was under two minutes.

They were amazing and as I think about the way they assessed and handled the situation, I am so grateful. They put their lives on the line every day. I appreciate and respect them every day.
