At the Division III sectional wrestling tournament, Zane Chase of Girard earned a 9-8 decision over Rootstown’s Tyler Hillard to win the 113-pound title.
At the 152-pound weight class, Liberty’s Tyrell Jethrow beat Manchester’s Travis Caskey by an 11-8 decision.
Girard’s Bryan Stack (fifth in 106 pounds), Daniel Johntony (second in 132), Garrett Bass (fourth in 138), Matthew Deal (third in 152), James Cupan (third in 160) and Steve Rovisanek (sixth in 170) also placed. The Indians finished fifth in the team standings with 112.5 points.
Liberty earned 103 team points and was sixth overall. Placing for the Leopards were Bobby Kurtz (sixth in 126 pounds), Ty Banks (fifth in 145), Daryl McClendon (sixth in 160), C.J. Edmonds (fourth in 182), Cody Bucher (fifth in 220) and Fred Clark (second in 285).
Mitch Tikkanen of Jackson-Milton was second in the 106-pound weight class, Devin Seka was third at 113 pounds and Nate Skasacs was third at 138. For Brookfield, Zack Jamieson was third at the 120-pound division, David Jamieson was fourth at 220 and at 285, Mark Hiner earned fourth place.
