lenten focus
Programs at church
Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, plans various programs relating to Lent.
Pretzel Sunday: Church school children will make pretzels for the 10:45 a.m. worship service this weekend. The pretzels are a reminder of the meaning of Lent, twisted to represent two arms crossed in prayer.
Shrove Tuesday: The celebration is fun time before the reflective season of Lent begins. The pancake supper will be from 6 to 7 p.m. in fellowship hall. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex. A free-will offering will be accepted. Pastor Becky Richie will share photos and details of her trip following the footsteps of Paul.
Ash Wednesday: Services with the Eucharist and imposition of ashes will be at noon and 7 p.m.
Tuesdays during Lent: Soup suppers will be at 6 p.m. followed by worship at 7 with hymns, Scripture and prayer. The 30-minute services are planned Feb. 28 and March 6, 13, 20 and 27. Members are asked to sign up to provide soup or bread.
