UTICA, ILL.

Lacey Schmitt and Michael Barahona, both of Cranberry, Pa., were married Sept. 30 at Canyonside Courtyard in Starved Rock State Park. The Rev. Duane Kaufman officiated at the wedding for the daughter of Robert and Joan Schmitt of Streator, Ill, and the son of Marilyn Vuletich of Youngstown and Miguel Barahona of Miami. A reception for the couple followed the ceremony at Deer Park Country Club in Oglesby, Ill.

The bride wore an ivory taffeta side-draped gown with a corset back and featuring a strapless bodice embellished with beaded lace.

Bridal attendants wore satin empire ball gowns in apple red, and included Shelly Huseman as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Melanie LeRette, cousin of the bride; Melissa Barahona, the groom’s sister; and Jackie Castillo, Gina Brace, Jenni Hernandez and Anchal Karkera. Jacqueline LeRette, the bride’s cousin, served as flower girl.

Mark Barahona, the groom’s brother, performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Erik Schmitt, the bride’s brother; and Ben Scheppman, Adam Roman, Brett Fidram, David Heberling, Dave Brace, Kendrick Thomas and Frankie Martin. Ring bearers were Aden Mehle, the groom’s nephew, and Samuel LeRette, the bride’s cousin.

Mrs. Barahona earned a bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology at Purdue University. She is a licensed veterinary technician in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Barahona earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Rockford College and is pursuing a master’s degree in sports exercise psychology at South University, where he is employed as an admissions representative.
