PROMOTIONS

Air Force Lt. Col. Ryan M. Elliott has assumed command of the 435th Construction and Training Squadron in the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. He has been in the military for 18 years.

Elliott is the son of George M. and Rebekah B. Elliott of Grove City, Pa. His wife, Elizabeth, is the daughter of Elias A. and Jewel W. Pigford of Robins Avenue, St. Pauls, N.C.

Elliott is a 1990 graduate of Grove City High school and received a bachelor’s degree in 1994 from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He also earned a master’s degree in 1999 from the University of South Carolina.

RETIREMENTs

Air Force Master Sgt. James W. Butler Jr., a 1986 graduate of Jackson-Milton High School, will retire Tuesday after serving 26 years in the Air Force.

His retirement ceremony was conducted Dec. 15 in Mansfield by members of his unit, the 179th Logistics Squadron.

Butler served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Panama, Honduras, Japan and Germany. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Nato Medal.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Anthony T. Anania, son of Anthony Anania of Youngstown, recently retired from active duty after 20 years of service.

Anania, a 1984 graduate of Chaney High School, most recently served at the Center for Surface Combat, Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va.

ADVANCED TRAINING

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan E. Eusanio, son of Donna Eusanio of Youngstown, graduated from the Navy’s Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, Goose Creek, S.C.

Nuclear Power School is a rigorous, six-month course that trains officer and enlisted students in the science and engineering fundamentals of the design, operation and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion plants.

Graduates next undergo additional instruction at a prototype training unit before serving as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard a nuclear-powered surface ship or as an Electronics Technician aboard a nuclear- powered submarine.

Eusanio is 2007 graduate of Ursuline High School and earned an associate degree in 2010 from Youngstown State University.

Wilson (Struthers High School, ’07, and Kent State University, ’11) son of Patricia Wilson and the late Douglas Wilson of Struthers, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson of Lowellville, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burrows of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Dorothy Phillips of Boardman; Reserve Airman Tiera E. Graves (Campbell Memorial High School, ’11), daughter of Gwendolyn and Terrence Graves of Campbell.

Marine Corps: Pvt. Michael R. Rowbotham (Niles McKinley High School, ’12), son of Kimberly Rowbotham of Warren.

Navy: Seaman Recruit Stacia E. Demuysere (Sharpsville High School, Sharpsville, Pa., ’10), daughter of Heidi L. Marriner of Sharpsville; Seaman Aaron L. Painter (Jefferson Area High School, Jefferson, Ohio, ’12), son of Darla J. and William R. Painter of Jefferson.
