What can you make with an empty tuna can and some construction paper? Or how about old paper-towel rolls and glitter?

For students at the Early Childhood Education program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, these ordinary items were used to create ornaments for The Green Team’s Christmas tree.

The students were led by Julie Pagnotta, early-childhood education instructor.

Using glue, newspapers and colored tissue paper, Mariah Cuevas of Austintown created colorful ornaments that can be hung on the tree with paper clips.

Brianna Eckman of West Branch and Cierra Duvall of Springfield cut paper towels into strips, painted them red and attached them together to form poinsettias.

The ornaments were part of a project created by the Green Team to have students create ornaments out of recyclable materials to decorate their Christmas tree at Fellow Riverside Gardens.
