It’s husband No. 3 for Kate Winslet
NEW YORK
Kate Winslet has tied the knot again.
The Oscar-winning actress wed Ned Rocknroll in New York earlier this month. The private ceremony was attended by Winslet’s two children as well as a few friends and family members, her representative said Thursday.
It is the third marriage for the 37-year-old Winslet. She previously was married to film directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes.
The 34-year-old Rocknroll, who was born Abel Smith, is a nephew of billionaire Virgin Group founder Richard Branson.
The couple had been engaged since last summer.
Winslet won a Best Actress Oscar for her performance in the 2008 film “The Reader.”
Kings drummer, wife welcome baby
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
The Kings of Leon family has just gotten bigger.
Drummer Nathan Followill and his wife, singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin, welcomed a baby girl Wednesday. It’s the first baby for the couple and the third for the Followill family band. Nathan Followill’s brother Caleb and cousin Matthew also have children.
A spokesman says Violet Marlowe Followill was born at 4:01 p.m. in Nashville. She was 7 pounds, 13 ounces at birth.
The baby comes before what promises to be a busy 2013 for Kings of Leon. The Nashville, Tenn.-based band has been working on new music for an album that’s expected to be released next year. Baylin released her third album, “Little Spark,” earlier this year.
The couple have been married since 2009.
Broadway honors Klugman, Durning
NEW YORK
The theater community was to honor Jack Klugman and Charles Durning by dimming Broadway’s lights in back-to-back memorials.
The marquees at all Broadway theaters were to go dark for one minute at 8 p.m. Thursday in honor of Durning, who died Monday at 89. Durning amassed several important Broadway credits, including playing Big Daddy in a 1990 revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” David Rabe’s “Boom Boom Room” and opposite George C. Scott in “Inherit the Wind” in 1996.
Today, the 40 Broadway marquees will go dark at 8 p.m. for Klugman, who also died Monday at 90. Klugman earned a Tony Award nomination for “Gypsy” in 1960, and his Broadway roles included parts in “I’m Not Rappaport” and “The Sunshine Boys.”
