The city has collected almost $20,000 in back income taxes, according to information from the Regional Income Tax Agency.

RITA collects taxes for Campbell. It notified the city this week about the payoff from a tax amnesty period throughout November.

The program allowed people who’d filed their income taxes but hadn’t paid them to do so without interest and penalties, said Mike Evanston, Campbell’s finance director.

Another tax program, in which the city subpoenaed people who had not filed their taxes, took place for three days in September at the city building.

Evanson said there is no figure available yet for the subpoena program.

Under that program, people who did not file could pay what they owed in a lump sum and avoid penalties and interest.

The city’s previous income-tax-amnesty program in 2010 brought in just under $45,000, according to Vindicator files. The subpoena program that year brought in $20,000.
